In Boulogne, as you would expect, the emphasis is very much on seafood and all things connected with the sea. The harbour with its fishing boats and market areas is an enchanting feature of the town. The town centre itself is very pleasant to visit, has an abundance of atmospheric brasseries, restaurants and good cafes. Having enjoyed a delicious lunch you can walk it off as you stroll along the paved promenade and enjoy the goings on of the busy harbour. The Rue de Lille leads up from the square where the Town Hall stands and is lined with a variety of shops and plentiful restaurants. At the top of the town,

lies the old town dominated by the belfry and dome of the Cathedral. You can take a walk around the tree lined ramparts, which offer fabulous views across the town. Enter through the ancient stone gates onto the cobble stoned streets and check out the fabulous old buildings everywhere you turn. The Crypt below the magnificent Basilique Notre Dame is believed to be the longest in France. Nearby there's a Casino, bowling alley and two golf courses. Nausicaa is a 'must see' place, housing fantastic aquariums on a scale rarely seen. The floor to ceiling glass panel and large viewing areas ensure that everyone gets a good look at Jaws! Outside is an area for sea lions, really great fun to watch especially if you catch them when they are being fed. There is a restaurant where you can eat your seafood while looking out over a beautiful lagoon full of fish! Overall, this charming seaside port has many pleasures to enthral you.
