The very comfortable 3* Best Western Hotel de L'Univers is located in the city centre, in a secluded street, just a short walk from the Place d'Arras and has a charm and character which is hard to rival. It was originally an old Jesuit monastery dating back to the 16th century, then transformed to a hospital, and following damage during WW1 has been lovingly restored. Arras is a beautiful city with layers of history that stretch back to the Romans. This hotel provides the perfect base for exploring this area and it's well signposted from the main routes into the town centre. It offers 38 rooms on 2 floors and the bedrooms are well-appointed and each is uniquely decorated. In the evening you can relax in the gastronomic restaurant which serves a high standard of cuisine, and lovers of original dishes may like to sample “andouillette” in Granny Smith apple jelly, or you can relax in the lounge bar and perhaps enjoy something from the hotel’s well stocked wine cellar. Pets are allowed and parking is free. This hotel is ideally located for you to enjoy the peace of the countryside and experience many outdoor activities including golf, fishing and allows you to tour the tunnels and cellars underneath the town where troops sheltered during the war. The nearby Vimy ridge and two towering pylons of the Vimy memorial make a memorable excursion.
